Over 400 New York area high school students and teachers gathered on campus at The Rockefeller University on Saturday, January 10, 2015 for the annual Talking Science event. This year’s speaker was renowned sensory neuroscientist A. James Hudspeth, M.D., Ph.D. who presented Making Sense of the Senses, an interactive presentation illustrating how his research has led to a deepened understanding of the way information from the outside world is captured by the sensory organs and relayed to the higher centers of the brain. The day’s program included a morning session, A Census of Senses, and an afternoon session, How Hearing Happens, interactive demonstrations, and lunch for all attendees.
